DAVAO CITY — Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio ordered the closure of all swimming pool in inland and mountain resorts including in city in compliance to the quarantine protocol and to avoid the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus Disease-19 ( Covid-19) which has yet to be contained.

Armed with the Mayor’s order, Paquibato Police Station Chief P/Major Marvin Hugos led the implementation of the closure order and released the water of the swimming pool to ensure no one will dip and take a bath on Maunday Thursday.

Paquibato Police Station is about 48.8 kilometers from Davao City hall or about two-hour uphill drive.

Four (4) swimming pools located in Barangay Paquibato and Barangay Marilog were drained and establishment padlocked eve of Good Friday.

People flocked to the city’s mountain resorts on the assumption that authorities will not detect the activities, but the activities reached City Hall, and closure order was immediately implemented.

The resort owners were left with no choice but shut down the pools and other amenities where people converge.

Based on the Executive Order issued by the Chief Executive, all resorts are closed from April 1 to April 4, just in time for the Holy Week where people are expected to get out of their houses for a break.

“Amo gyud gipahubsan ang ilahang mga swimming pool arun nga wa gyuy mangadto, dili sila makadawat ug clients kay walay tubig ang pool walay makaligo, lisud pud kay puro lagyo ang mga area (We closed their swimming pools, we drained the water, so that people will not go there, they cannot accept clients, no one swims, it was a challenge because the area is far),” Hugos revealed.

Going for a Holy Week break hoping for a dive in a swimming pool without water, is a frustration, which simply means, activities are discouraged-Rosemarie Ann N. Diabordo/Newsline.ph
