DAVAO CITY — After the two-year lull due to the pandemic, people of Davao region can enjoy the flares of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices in weolcmoing the Christmas and the New year except Davao City, as the later’s ordinance crafted in 2002 is in effect.

On December 25 and 31, Mati City in Davao Oriental will have a beautiful Christmas fountain and fireworks at the baywalk while Tagum City and Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte will also have fire works display and the provincial capitol center will also have its own fireworks display.

Same goes to Davao del Sur, Davao de Oro and Davao Occidental but not Davao City where you can only hear vehicle mufflers and other natural noise as there is a firecrackers and pyrotechnics device ban in the city.

Davao City’s Ordinance No. 060 Series of 2022 specifically prohibits the use of firecrackers and pyrotechnics devices.

Except Davao City, all local governments units have designated a common area where Christmas stuff are sold but they impose strict measures to avoid accidents related to fireworks and pyrotechnic devices..

The sellers can display their goods until January 1, 2023.

In Davao del Norte all types of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices are displayed at the Rotary park and the government imposes restrictions to avoid accidents related to their business.

“Dinhi sa Dakbayan sa Davao, hugut nga ipatuman sa Davao City Security and Safety Cluster ang ordinansa” (Here is Davao City we are strictly enforcing the ordinance especially in the Davao City Security and Safety Cluster), said Sumagaysay .

In Davao City, the following fines and sanctions await every violator:
