DAVAO CITY(November 24) —The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is strengthening its coordination with regional law enforcement and government agencies as part of a broader push to protect Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families from online scams, illegal recruitment, and trafficking.
Acting DCPO director Col. Mannan Muarip joined the 299th Regional Command Conference and RLECC-Davao meeting hosted by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW-Davao), where agencies committed to tighter cooperation in monitoring and preventing schemes targeting aspiring and returning OFWs.
Representatives from the Philippine Army, Coast Guard, NAPOLCOM, BFP, DENR, PDEA, and DOJ highlighted the shared responsibility of keeping migrant workers safe—an issue affecting many Davao homes with relatives abroad.
During the meeting, Muarip requested DMW-Davao’s latest campaign materials on trafficking and scams so the DCPO can post them on its website and social media channels. He said accessible information is crucial for families who may be lured by fraudulent recruiters promising quick deployment or high-paying jobs.
Muarip also urged communities to stay vigilant, verify recruiters, and report suspicious offers. He emphasized that public awareness and early reporting remain the strongest defenses against exploitation in the digital era.
“This is not just a law enforcement concern—it’s a community effort to protect our own,” he said.
