Mati City, Davao Oriental — In a distressing discovery, a lifeless bottlenose dolphin was found washed ashore along the coastline of Barangay Lawigan. The city’s veterinary team promptly responded to the scene to assess the situation and gather crucial information about the incident.

Measuring approximately 2.25 meters in length and weighing around 120 kilograms, the male dolphin’s lifeless body raised concerns among local authorities. The dolphin’s exact cause of death remains undetermined, as the carcass was already in the early stages of decomposition, emitting a strong odor.

Observations indicated the presence of blood near the right fin and various wounds on the body, likely a consequence of the dolphin becoming stranded or colliding with underwater rock formations.

The veterinary team has gathered samples and information to conduct a thorough examination in order to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the dolphin’s death. Further investigations are underway to uncover more details about the incident.
