Defense Department vows full support for Marawi Rehab

DAVAO CITY –Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr. reaffirmed the department’s unwavering support for Marawi City’s ongoing rehabilitation efforts during a courtesy call of Presidential Adviser for Marawi Rehabilitation, Secretary Nasser C. Pangandaman, Sr. held at the DND on May 10, 2024.

The two officials pledged their full cooperation to achieve long-term peace and stability in Marawi City.

The National Economic and Development Authority projected that the necessary investment for Marawi Rehabilitation could cost the government P53 billion.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. earlier vowed to fast-track the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the country’s only Islamic City and usher in sustainable development and long-lasting peace to its residents.

During the 5th Anniversary of Marawi Siege in October 2023, Presidential Peace Adviser Sec. Carlito G. Galvez, Jr. vowed the government’s support for the rehabilitation of the area, the place of the five months war between the government and the terrorist group.
