DAVAO CITY — The Police Regional Office XI director Brig. Gen. Alden B. Delvo on Monday reminded all police personnel to uphold the constitution and remain loyal to the republic amid political bickering and issues about the Mindanao Independence Movement.
“We should remain loyal to the duly constituted authorities, if there is a brewing conflict politically let us not be part of it, because we are agents of peace and order,” Delvo told his officers and personnel during the Monday flag raising ceremony at Camp Catitipan
“Loyalty to the duly constituted authorities, the flag, and our country the Republic of the Philippines,” he invoked. “I know that there is a brewing conflict in some of the areas of Davao region huwag nyo nang dagdagan pa (do not add up to it) by taking sides. You approach the warring political entities and talk to them, para hindi na lumala (so it will not worsen),” he added.
The country is faced with many challenges and added to that. is the recent announcement of former president Rodrigo Duterte who wants Mindanao to secede from the Republic of the Philippines by moving for Mindanao’s independence citing the unequal economic opportunities against people in the island.
Delvo emphasized “I have to admit that we are also in the middle of some political issues, let us be mindful of the things that are affecting our country and people, we are the guardians of peace and order,” says Police Regional Director. We must conduct ourselves with the highest degree of integrity, professionalism and we should be apolitical, I am reminding all provincial directors and city, municipal police chiefs to remain apolitical.”
Even if the 2025 midterm elections fifteen (15) months away, Delvo said, “Sabi nga malayo pa ang electoral duties natin but it feels and malapit na rin 2025.”
he reminded everyone, “I am reminding everyone that “Age of adventurism is long gone, it is history, if you want adventurism to you go to Mt. Apo and enjoy it there to seek adventure.”
