DIGOS CITY – Mayor Josef Cagas on Friday ordered law enforcement units within his area of responsibility to impose curfew hour to those who are visiting their loved ones during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

Cagas said due to the danger posed by the series of strong earthquakes that struck the city, visitors will be asked to leave the city public cemetery in Barangay San Jose, as well as the Digos Memorial Park in Barangay Tres de Mayo at exactly 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

“We don’t want to disrupt their precious time to be with their departed loved ones, but knowing the danger posed by the aftershocks of the recent earthquakes we have to take action in protecting their limbs and lives,” Cagas said during a short briefing with department heads on Friday morning.

Visitors are also reminded not to bring their karaoke and other forms of sound system that could disrupt the solemnity of the occasion.

“Many religious individuals will be there to offer prayers or even silently talked to their departed family members, relatives and friends, so we should give them our full respect since the day is special for them. Let us not distract those who will be observing the Kalag-Kalag in a solemn way,” Cagas said.

A total liquor ban will also be observed aside from the conventional prohibition in carrying bladed weapons. -PNA
