Digos mayor test positive for COVID-19

DIGOS CITY – City Mayor Josef Fortich Cagas was found positive for COVID-19.

The City Information Office announced that Cagas was found to have contacted the deadly virus on April 9, when the result of his swab test was released.

Cagas is now being isolated and treated in a still undisclosed hospital, the report said.

The City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (CESU) is currently conducting contact tracing to those who were in close contact with the mayor.

The city is asking individuals who met Cagas since March 17 to immediately contact the city health officials for assessment, although tracing date is already beyond the 14-day incubation period, to ensure they are safe.

Those who felt the symptoms COVID-19 infection such as cough, fever, body pains, among others must visit the health center for consultation or avail the free swab test to ensure they are free from Covid-19.

Concerned individuals may contact the health authorities through mobile numbers: 0963-940-1634 (Smart or TNT), 0935-994-1256 (Globe or TM), City Government of Digos Facebook Page, or email them at digos.mayorsoffice@gmail.com.

They may also approach its HELP DESK stationed at Rizal Park, Digos City, solely dedicated for interviewing/assessing possible close contacts of the City Mayor during this period.

Digos City recorded 770 positive cases since the start of the pandemic with 708 recoveries, and 21 deaths.
