DAVAO CITY (June 10) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday morning made a surprise inspection at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport-Terminal 2, after hearing reports about flights delay and cancellations.

Duterte just arrived in Manila from Davao when he heard reports of flights cancellation and delays.

He then proceeded to NAIA Terminal 2 and talked to airline and NAIA officials regarding the cancellations and delays to know whether there are flight diversions and if affected passengers are given incentives to ease their inconvenience.

A Philippine Airlines manager and a NAIA-Terminal 2 airport duty manager briefed the President on the flight woes and explained actions being undertaken to normalize the situation.

Duterte asked how to resolve the flight problems could be addressed and how can the government act on it, particularly the Department of Transportation, to solve the problem in the long term.

After the briefing, Duterte then talked to the passengers and apologized for the inconvenience it caused. Before them, he vowed to come up with a remedy within the month.

After the surprise inspection, the President took a break at one of the food kiosks at the airport. Among those present were Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Ed Monreal, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Director General Capt. Jim Sydiongco, Rep.
