Duterte to visit Jolo after the twin blasts

DAVAO CITY (January 28) —-President Rodrigo Duterte will visit Jolo, Sulu today, following the two explosions in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cathedral Sunday which killed 20 and wounded 111.

Christopher ā€œBongā€ Go, Duterte’s trusted aide said the President was saddened when he was briefed about the incident .

“We will fly to Jolo,” Go said.

MalacaƱang has condemned the explosion and vowed to ā€œcrushā€ the ā€œgodless criminals behind the incident.ā€

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo in a statement said ā€œThe Armed Forces of the Philippines will rise to the challenge and crush these godless criminals. We will pursue to the ends of the earth the ruthless perpetrators behind this dastardly crime until every killer is brought to justice and put behind bars. The law will give them no mercy.ā€

ā€œWe condole with the families of the victims that perished in this tragedy even as we attend to the injured and give succor to their families,ā€ he added.

MalacaƱang has condemned the attacks and assured the public that the culprits will be severely punished.

“We will pursue to the ends of the earth the ruthless perpetrators behind this dastardly crime until every killer is brought to justice and put behind bars,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.

Col. Gerry Besana, spokesperson of the military’s Western Mindanao Command, in a statement released last night said the initial result of the investigation pointed toĀ  the Abu Sayyaf’s ā€œAjang-Ajangā€ group as the perpetrator.
