Duterte to witness oath taking of youngest son Sebastian in Davao

DAVAO CITY (June 21) — President Rodrigo Duterte will stand witness to the oath taking of his youngest son Sebastian Duterte who ran and won unopposed as Vice Mayor in the recent mid-term elections.

The elder Duterte siblings have taken their oath early today.

Sebastian, is perceived to be his father’s favorite not only being the youngest in his first marriage with Elizabeth Zimmerman but the President once described Sebastian or ‘Baste’ as cool and flexible.

His daughter Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio took her oath of office, for her second term as city’s chief executive, administered by Regional Trial Court Branch 14  Judge Jill Rose Jaugan-Lo inside the session hall of Sangguniang Panlungsod on Friday morning.

Duterte-Carpio was accompanied by her mother Elizabeth Zimmerman and her niece Bella.

In her speech, the presidential daughter said that in her new term, she will work on making the city 100 percent insurgency free by 2020.

Duterte-Carpio will also work to further reduce poverty incidence in the city from 7.8 percent in 2018.

She also want to make the city more secure and more developed in the years to come.

” We aim to continue our programs that are catalysts for further growth and see to it that we provide a business climate that is fitting to the needs of both investors and worker, ” she said.

Her elder brother Paolo Duterte also took his oath as elected first district representative of the city, this morning, which was administered by Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 7 Judge Rufino Ferraris Jr.

The new Congressman of the city was accompanied by his wife January and children Uno and Sabina.

In his speech, the President’s eldest son is hoping to come up with laws that will positively impact the people that will give livelihood, generate jobs, improve  the infrastructures, provide education opportunities to less fortunate children and the youth, and bring about sustainable development across sectors, especially in the countryside.

“In the next three years, let us work together in unity and, hand-in-hand, we will achieve our dreams as a family growing together under one home — a home, a city, that is more progressive, more dynamic, and responsive to the needs of the people — taking off from the concrete gains of the current leadership,” he said.

Meanwhile, their younger brother Sebastian is set to swear in this afternoon which will be witnessed by the President and to be administered by Jaugan-Lo.- Armando Fenequito Jr/NewsLine.ph
