COTABATO CITY – Interim Chief Minister Ahod “Murad” Ebrahim of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has called for moral governance and pro-active stance on peace as the Muslim world observed on Sunday the 2019 Eid’l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice).

“We have moved up to another level, our enemies are no longer the Armed Forces of the Philippines, in fact we are already laying down our arms,” Ebrahim said in his message Sunday morning, during the congregational prayer inside the BARMM compound here that was presided over by Bangsamoro Grand Mufti Abu Hurairah Udasan.

The chief minister called for personal sacrifice for all those working in the regional government as he pushed for moral governance.

“We have shifted our struggle from arms to governance, moral governance,” he said.

Ebrahim said as Prophet Ibrahim tried to sacrifice his son, Ismael to prove his loyalty to God, the BARMM leaders must also be ready to make a sacrifice for the sake of the Bangsamoro.

He stressed that President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s commitment to correct historical injustices among the Bangsamoro was already enough to show “his desire to have peace in our homeland”.

Ebrahim also called on the Bangsamoro to pray for Muslims who are in a difficult situation all over the world.

“Let us not forget our brothers and sisters all over the world who are facing challenges in their lives and need help,” he said. “May the purity of our intentions in the struggle of attaining genuine peace and development is sustained,” he added.

About 3,000 Muslim faithful gathered at the 10-hectare BARMM compound here to join the congregational prayer, where Grand Mufti Udasan rallied the Bangsamoro to follow the footsteps of Prophet Mohammad in their daily life.

The Eid’l Adha celebration on Sunday is set to culminate on the night of Aug. 12, Monday. Duterte has earlier declared a nationwide non-working holiday for Aug. 12. (PNA)
