DAVAO CITY – A 45-foot live Christmas tree, designed with a whimsical Candyland theme, illuminated Eden Nature Park and Resort on December 2, 2024, during its much-awaited Christmas tree lighting ceremony marking the start of the resort’s festive celebrations.

Present at the ceremony were Department of Tourism Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan, Davao City Tourism Chief Jennifer Romero, Eden Resort Operations Manager Celia Sutton, and Marketing Manager Jeline Galagar. Guests, staff, and visitors also joined the vibrant celebration, making it a memorable evening.

A highlight of the program was a captivating dance performance by the En Avante Dance and Arts Center, delighting the audience with their energy and artistry.

“A Tradition of Festivity and Joy”

Jeline Galagar, Eden’s Marketing Manager, shared the story behind the iconic tree:

“We have the tallest live Christmas tree at 45 feet tall. This has been part of our tradition for many years. We started the Christmas tree lighting ceremony years ago and have made it an annual event, adding more charm and creativity each year. This year’s Candyland theme is all about bringing joy, especially to children,” Galagar explained.

The Araucaria tree, a variety of pine trees found abundantly in Eden, was adorned with vibrant decorations, including colorful ornaments, wooden reindeer, and oversized gift boxes.

Candyland and Tunnel of Lights

This year’s Candyland-inspired theme was meticulously designed to evoke childhood nostalgia. Event stylist Vheejay Salonga said:

“The Candyland theme reflects Eden’s family-friendly environment, making it a magical experience for kids and adults alike. The colors and decorations bring back the essence of childhood Christmas memories” she added.

Another standout feature was the 65-meter-long Tunnel of Lights, which has quickly become a favorite spot for Instagram-worthy photos and social media reels. The Vista Restaurant’s buffet area was also decked with holiday decorations, enhancing the festive ambiance.

Janice Javalona, a visitor from Bansalan, Davao del Sur, expressed her delight with Eden’s festive atmosphere. Her group chose the resort for a three-day seminar, citing its serene environment and scenic views.

“The place feels amazing. We visited before, but this year’s decorations truly capture the Christmas spirit,” Javalona said.

A Destination for the Holidays

Eden Nature Park and Resort, located at the foot of Mt. Talomo in Toril District, spans 75 hectares and is known as one of Davao City’s top mountain resorts. Management anticipates a surge of visitors during the holiday season and encourages everyone to experience Eden’s unique blend of natural beauty, exciting adventures, delicious cuisine, and vibrant culture.

The resort’s annual Christmas celebrations not only highlight its festive spirit but also its commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for visitors of all ages.
