DAVAO CITY–The Military’s Eastern Mindanao Command (EMC) still awaits the implementing guidelines to effect Martial Law in Mindanao.
Though the declaration has been know to people of Mindanao, the army’s center of command has yet to secure a written guidelines but they are doing the routine check and conducted mobile checkpoints.
This, after the Maute Group took-over Marawi City, Lanao del Sur on Tuesday which killed government forces and civilians.
Eastern Command spokesperson Maj. Ezra L. Balagtey said, in a statement says they need to know the “How to’s” in implementing Martial Law to the ground.
Pending guidelines, Balagtey said “Residents need to stay calm vigilant and cooperative in the government’s effort to secure the people and properties.”
A renewed call “And to immediately report to law enforcement units any suspicious-looking individual or activity in their vicinity,” he said.
Balagtey said all of their units remained to be on heightened alert after the incident in Marawi City.
” Security operations were intensified in urban areas of Eastern Mindanao particularly Davao City, General Santos City and Cagayan De Oro City to prevent diversionary attacks,” he said.
Balagtey said the EMC is taking the necessary measures to secure the maritime, coastal and land areas and mantain peace and order.
The strategic areas like, sea ports, airports and coastal areas have been secured but government authorities are not taking chances, he added “there is Close coordination among law enforcement groups.”-Armando L. Fenequito Jr./Newsline.ph
