Ex-Speaker Prospero Nograles dies

DAVAO CITY (May 5) —Former House Speaker Prospero ” Boy” Nograles, 71, passed away yesterday morning.

“Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of you for being a part of Papa Boy Nogie’s life and journey,” said Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles in a statement.

Nograles breathed his last with his family around him.

Karlo is asking their friends “May we please ask for your continued prayers. He is finally at peace.”

The family did not release details on the cause of his death.

The wake will be held in Chapel 1 at Heritage Park, Fort Bonifacio, BGC Taguig from Sunday, May 5, to Monday, May 6, the family said. The remains of the former House Speaker will be flown to Davao on Tuesday, May 7.

In a statement, Malacañang expressed its condolences to the bereaved family of Nograles.

“Former Speaker Nograles was a pride of Mindanao. He was one of the leading lights of the political leaders in Mindanao,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.

“Former Speaker Nograles will certainly be missed by his loved ones, friends and constituents. May eternal rest grant unto him and perpetual light shine upon him,” Panelo added.-NewsLine.ph
