Ex-Vice Gov of Sultan Kudarat killed in ambush

KIDAPAWAN CITY — Unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen ambushed and killed former Vice Governor of Sultan Kudarat Rolando “Rolly” Recinto about 2:00 in the afternoon Tuesday, January 7, 2020.

Police Regional Office 12 (PRO-12) in a report stated that Recinto was driving his Mitsubishi pick-up with licensed plate LDF-237 from Tacurong City towards his home when the motorcycle-riding gunmen shot him along the national highway in Barangay Bilumin in Lambayong town.

Recinto sustained multiple gunshot wounds in various parts of his body, Lambayong police rushed him to the hospital but he was declared dead upon arrival.

Recinto served as mayor of Lambayong. His son, Francis Eric Recinto is the incumbent vice mayor.

The PRO-12 is still investigating the circumstances behind the incident to identify the suspects.-Randy Patches
