DAVAO CITY — “Is my account hacked?” This was the common reaction of Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and Messenger users when their accounts automatically logged off middle of the night on Tuesday when the Meta-owned platforms experienced a global outage.

For almost two hours all Meta-owned platforms experienced technical issues which affected almost all users but everyone was relieved when it was restored.

Some users checked the status through “X” and to news websites to check what went wrong.

Philippine users detected the problem around 11:00 pm of Tuesday but was restored around 12:30 am Wednesday.

It was then, that users read the Meta announcement saying “And we’re back! Thanks for your patience as our teams worked to restore access to some of our apps this morning ?.”

The technical issue prompted users to change passwords but to no avail.

Users feared being disconnected to their friends and families while others worried about the secret conversations they had on messengers.

Many Filipino Overseas workers were sad “I thought we failed to pay our internet bill,” Sheeren posted.

“I was scared because I have secret chats on Messenger and I thought my account was hacked,” says Carlota.

While some users were sad, some users also posted “Thank You for giving us the realization that we have Real Life Outside Facebook.”
