Dubai, UAE – Filipina domestic helper Gina Realuyo Soriano, can’t believe her life will change when her name was drawn as the one-time-big-time winner of remittance center Al Ansari Exchange’s Summer Promotion for 2018.
The lucky Filipina who was also named as the first female millionaire by Al Ansari Exchange, took home Dh1 million (Php14m) grand prize during the Al Ansari Exchange Rewards Millionaire Raffle Draw 2018 held at Metropolitan Hotel in Dubai on August 28, 2018.
Soriano, has worked in the UAE for the last 10 years said, she will use her winnings to send her family members to school and set-up a business in the Philippines.
“I was very shocked when my name was announced. I nearly cried because I did not expect that I will win the 1 million dirhams grand prize. It is a big amount and I said to myself, my family’s future is now secured,” said Soriano in a WhatsApp message to NewsLine.ph.
“I am using Al Ansari Exchange for nearly 8 years now for sending money back home to my family, I also send my SSS payments through them,” she added, thanking Al Ansari Exchange for its good service to thousands of OFWs in the UAE.
Soriano is the second OFW who won the grand prize from the same promo by Al Ansari Exchange after Al Dizon Banzil, a civil engineer from Pampanga.
Like Soriano, Banzil also left behind his family in the Philippines to work as an OFW in the UAE.
Despite winning a hefty sum, Soriano pointed out she will continue working for her employers and she is not planning to leave UAE anytime soon.
Eight winners won consolation prize of Dh10,000 (Php140,000) cash each, including another OFW, Honesto Corpuz.
In a media interview, Rashed Ali Al Ansari, General Manager of Al Ansari Exchange said: “Congratulations to Gina. She is the second Filipino millionaire of the Al Ansari Exchange Promo 2018. But she also set the record for being the first female millionaire of Al Ansari Exchange.”
