BUTUAN CITY (October 16) – Some 600 farmers in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, received P3,000 each in fuel subsidies to help power their farm machinery and sustain food production during the planting season.

The one-day distribution, led by the Department of Agriculture in Caraga Region (DA-13), released a total of P1.8 million worth of fuel cards on Tuesday.

“The subsidy will help farmers secure enough fuel for their machinery as they prepare their fields for planting,” the DA-13 said.

Rice farmer Maricel Gelay welcomed the assistance, saying the aid will ease fuel expenses and help ensure better harvests and income.

The DA-13 will roll out more fuel aid this week in Butuan City and the Agusan del Norte towns of Buenavista and Nasipit.
