Go supports Catamco’s rebuilding plan for NoCot

November 23, 2019 by NewsLine Philippines

Amas, Cotabato– Philippine Senator Bong Go expresses support to the rebuilding plan for North Cotabato and brings 18M fund for the Municipality of Makilala, Magpet and Kidapawan City.

The Senator meet with Cotabato Provincial Governor Nancy Catamco this morning to turn over the fund along with 85 units portalets provided by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and commitments of National Housing Authority (NHA) in the provision and support for building of houses.

In a speech delivered at the Provincial Capitol, Go emphasised that the monetary support was personally offered by the administration of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte (PRRD) who treats North Cotabato as supportive neighbourhood.

The 18M fund is intended for Makilala sharing the cut of 10M, 5M for Kidapawan City and 3M for the Municipality of Magpet. The turn over was attended by the Municipal mayor Armando Quibod of Makilala, Florenito Gonzaga of Magpet and Vice Mayor Jevero Bombeo of Kidapawan City. Also present in the activity were Board member Krista Pinol Solis, Shirlyn Macasarte and the Chiefs of Offices of the Provincial government.

The Senator also commits to appropriate funds for other municipalities through Governor Catamco which he mentions – the Municipality of Tulunan, Mlang and Arakan. He said, his office will facilitate the fund release the soonest time possible.

In the rebuilding plans, Governor Catamco earlier commits to address the need for temporary shelters of the evacuees through the Key programs under the Provincial Comprehensive Rehabilitation Plan. Along with her two day visit, the Governor is now working with the Municipal Officials of Makilala and concern agencies in finding safe relocation sites to house the thousand of evacuees now suffering from the hardship of living under laminated sacks, lack of water and toilets and worrying about their respective properties back home.

In her visit to Bulakanon Camp sites in Makilala this morning, Governor Catamco also emphasised that building temporary learning shelters for schools is equally important concern that needs to be addressed. She said that amidst the challenges brought by the devastating earthquake, education must continue believing that honing the young generation to become educated and learned is the key to a better future.-PR
