4 killed, 120 arrested in SOCCSKSARGEN anti-drugs campaign

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines — Four suspected drug pushers were killed while 120 illegal drug users were arrested in the 13-day anti-drug operations here.
The 13-day operations in the areas of South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat,Sarangani and General Santos City (SOCCSKSARGEN), was in line with the government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.
Chief Inspector Aldrin Gonzales, spokesperson of the PNP regional command, said the police conducted 96 anti-illegal drugs operations from January 30 to February 12, 2018.
During the operations, authorities confiscated more than 74 grams of shabu and 34 grams of marijuana.
The PNP also visited 170 houses in their “Oplan Tokhang” (Toktok-Hangyo), of which 179 surrendered to authorities.
Of the 179 surrendered, 62 admitted using shabu while 117 confessed they are either courier or peddler.
Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales, PRO 12 regional director, said they will continue to operate in the hope of minimizing of not totally eradicating illegal drugs problem in his area of responsibility.
Morales advised drug personalities and their peddlers to surrender peacefully rather than putting up a fight with authorities.-Ramil H. Bajo/Newsline.ph
