2 dead, 23 arrested in South Cotabato anti-illegal drugs operation

Koronadal City, Philippines — Two persons  were killed while 23 others were arrested, in the  synchronized joint operations dubbed as “one time bigtime” drug operations involving  five barangays of Polomolok, South Cotabato,   Thursday, March 1, 2018.

South Cotabato Police Provincial Director  Senior Superintendent   Nestor Salcedo, identified the fatalities as Mario Hamilat and Ruben Porsuelo, residents of barangay poblacion Polomolok.

Armed with search warrants against 124 drug personalities , about 500 police operatives from  various police stations of South Cotabato swooped barangays  Poblacion, Magsaysay, Lumakil, Silway 8 and Rubber of Polomolok town, Thursday dawn..

Salcedo said the synchronized joint operations resulted  to the arrested to 21 persons, who were in possession of illegal drugs, explosives and high-powered firearms during the search.

The authorities recovered sachets of shabu, grenades, ammunition and assorted  firearms believed to be unlicensed.

The operations was participated by police personnel from South Cotabato Provincial Police Office, Provincial PNP Mobile Group, Regional Intelligence Unit and policemen coming from the various municipal police stations in the province.

Soldiers from  2th Infantry Battalion (IB) based in the municipality of  Tupi town also joined the operations.-Ramil H. Bajo/Newsline.ph
