CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (October 1) – 68 families, victims of the recent fire that killed a baker, in Brgy. Puerto, this city, receives a cash assistance from the City Government.
The cash assistance was based on an early assessment on the extent of damage that the fire caused on a specific family. A single household may receive cash assistance ranging from 12,000 to 20,000.

“This P18,000 that we received as cash assistance from the city government is insufficient. and can only cater some materials of the house, that we are planning to build, for us to relocate ourselves from the temporary shelter that we have been living on for the meantime,” Cabal added.
The fire occurred at 10:45 in the morning and burned 50 houses in Zone 5, Barangay Puerto. Authorities declared a fire-out at 1:35 in the afternoon. The fire started at the L and L bakery and was raised up to 4th alarm due to a leak on the liquefied petroleum gas, causing an explosion. – Hensell Hebaya/ NewsLine
