Governor Oaminal distributes 100 rescue vehicles to 15 LGUs in Misamis Occidental

June 20, 2024 by NewsLine Philippines

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Governor Henry S. Oaminal, on Wednesday, June 19, led the distribution of 100 brand-new rescue vehicles to 15 local government units (LGUs) across Misamis Occidental.

The Governor highlighted that the government’s responsible fiscal management has paved the way for province-wide capability building in emergency response and has enhanced local health services across Misamis Occidental.

The rescue vehicles were distributed as follows: Aloran (5), Baliangao (5), Jimenez (7), Plaridel (5), Clarin (15), Oroquieta City (6), Concepcion (6), Calamba (1), Lopez Jaena (1), Tangub City (20), Panaon (6), Sinacaban (2), Don Victoriano (2), and Sapang Dalaga (14).

During the turnover ceremony held on Friday, June 14, at the Asenso Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center, Governor Oaminal emphasized the critical importance of these vehicles in responding to emergencies, disasters, and calamities. He urged the LGUs to ensure proper maintenance and efficient utilization of the equipment.

“Our province, with its 490 barangays, has already received the first 300 vehicles. Today, we are delivering the remaining 100 vehicles. Over the past two years, the provincial government has allocated P440 million for procuring these vehicles,” Governor Oaminal stated in his address.

Mayor Lemuel Meyrick Acosta of Oroquieta City expressed gratitude to Governor Oaminal, highlighting how the vehicles will enhance mobility in delivering essential services to communities. Barangay Captain Ambisionado C. Gabrinez Jr. of Barangay Lumipac, Baliangao, echoed these sentiments, noting the vehicles’ crucial role in addressing residents’ needs during emergencies and calamities.

This distribution marks the fourth batch of rescue vehicles provided by the provincial government, with plans underway to distribute additional units to other deserving beneficiaries.

Funding for these vehicles was sourced from the provincial government, with support from the 1st and 2nd Districts of Misamis Occidental. This initiative aligns with the provincial administration’s broader goals in peace and order, health, agriculture, tourism, education, and sports, aiming to empower local officials in efficiently delivering fundamental services to constituents.

The distribution of these rescue vehicles underscores the Asenso Administration’s unwavering commitment to public safety and community welfare.
