Hawaiian dances highlight women’s month in Baganga town

DAVAO CITY –— The crowd cheered as when women group presenters entered the town’s gymnasium clad in Hawaiian costume ready to dance to teh tune of Hawaii-Five-O as they celebrate the Women’s month.

The women group from the 18 barangays of Baganga town showed their dancing prowess as Mayor ROnald Lara and Governor Niño Sotero Uy cplauded every perfroance on Wednesday.

Lara said the performances showed how empowered and high-spirited woman they have in their town.

“The smiles on your faces during your performance showed how you as women stood firm for the development of your ranks, you never failed to take part in oor development programs and share your plans to further advance your role, you know that without you, we cannot form a collective effort for our town,” Lara added.

Governor Niño Uy, who attended the celebration, expressed his happiness to see the men and women, and the leaders, united in supporting the upliftment of the status of women in society, especially here in Davao Oriental.

The Provincial Government, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) headed by Juvy Abarca, and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) headed by Restie Aguilon, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) also provided livelihood assistance to two women’s organizations in the town which are Saoquige Pag-asa Women’s Association and Coral Lambajon’s Association worth P150,000.00 each.

These two organizations are only part of the initial organizations that will receive livelihood assistance from the provincial government. Governor Uy promised that more organizations throughout the province will receive financial assistance to improve their livelihoods.

The province-wide celebration of Women’s Month will continue in the following days in other towns and cities in Davao Oriental.
