MANILA (November 24) —The Bureau of Immigration has put all international airports and seaports on high alert after the Sandiganbayan issued arrest warrants for former lawmaker Zaldy Co and 15 others over an alleged anomalous flood control project in Oriental Mindoro.

Commissioner Joel Viado said all names are now in the BI’s central database, allowing officers to flag anyone attempting to enter or leave the country. Officers will coordinate immediately with the Philippine National Police to enforce the warrants.

Four of the accused are currently abroad, including Co in Singapore and two Sunwest Inc. executives in Australia and the UAE.

Authorities emphasized that public officials cannot evade the law, and the heightened alerts signal the government’s resolve to hold those implicated in corruption accountable.
