Joint operation results in drug den discovery and arrests in Davao City

DAVAO CITY – In a successful joint operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-XI), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI-XI), and Talomo Police Station 3, a suspected drug den in KM 8, Purok 5-A, Inigo, Barangay Matina Pangi, Davao City was discovered and dismantled.

During the operation, three individuals were apprehended, identified by the PDEA as Jerwin Omega, the alleged maintainer of the drug den, Ricky Sorbella, his accomplice, and Mac George Gempesao, a visitor to the establishment. Authorities seized an estimated 61,200 pesos worth of suspected shabu from their possession.

In a separate buy-bust operation conducted by the local police, Stephen Pacite Gemperoso, a 21-year-old construction worker, was also arrested after being caught in possession of suspected shabu. He was found to have an additional sachet of the illegal substance in his possession.

Furthermore, two individuals, Johannes Evang Evangelista, 29 years old, and Steve Abria Castroverde, 29 years old, were intercepted at a checkpoint by the Task Force Davao and Toril Police. Upon inspection, a transparent sachet containing suspected shabu was found in the passenger seat area. Additionally, sachets of suspected shabu were discovered concealed in a slipper.

The combined amount of suspected shabu seized from all the suspects totals approximately 131,200 pesos.

The arrested individuals will face charges for their involvement in the illegal drug trade, as authorities continue their efforts to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs in Davao City.
