Lesbian killed, companion hurt in Cotabato City shooting incident

COTABATO CITY – A lesbian was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, while her companion sustained injuries after being shot by unidentified assailants along Quezon Avenue, Rosary Heights 2, this city, around 3:40 in the afternoon on Wednesday, February 12.

City Police Station 1 Commander PCapt. Rustan Deaño identified the victim as Almira Hamsa Usman, 27 years old, self-employed, and a resident of Bagua 2, while her companion, Jane Ersando Palileo, a married businesswoman and resident of Rosary Heights 12, sustained injuries.

Initial reports from the PNP indicate that the victims were riding a green Yamaha Nmax motorcycle when two still unidentified individuals, also aboard a motorcycle, approached them and opened fire.

Four bullet casings were recovered from the crime scene. The PNP is currently investigating the incident to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the shooting.
