Local officials turn over P18.75m in farm inputs and equipment donated to farmers in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Department of Agriculture District II Congressional Office, together with Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe, spearheaded the mass turnover of farm inputs and equipment for various farmer associations on the city’s east coast.

The turnover event took place on Friday, July 28.

The turnover included a solar-powered irrigation system worth P648,000; two units of four-wheel driver tractors amounting to PHP 5.1 million; commercial hybrid seeds, fertilizer assistance, rice threshers, multi-purpose drying pavements, and combine harvesters totaling P8.044 million.

Furthermore, assorted vegetable seeds, inorganic fertilizer, mungbean seeds, peanut seeds, and 30 pieces of plastic crates valued at PHP 963,000, along with community gardening interventions amounting to PHP 309,000, were also handed over to the farmer association.

In addition to these items, the farmer association received 201 heads of sentinel pigs with various feeds and an LN2 mother tank worth PHP 3.69 million for hog raisers, provided by the Office of the City Veterinarian.

The total value of the farm inputs and equipment reached P18,775,996.

The project aims to enhance agricultural production and ensure food security in the city.

The initiative was funded by the Department of Agriculture, facilitated by District II Congressman and Majority Leader Mannix Dalipe, in collaboration with the local government through the City Agriculturist Office.

Mayor Dalipe expressed his gratitude to the Department of Agriculture Region 9 for consistently supporting and assisting the farmers in order to further develop the city’s agricultural sector.
