TNT contestant Mark Mariscal killed in hit-and-run

DAVAO CITY – Local authorities are investigating a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of Mark Ken Mariscal, a local singer from Davao City, who competed in the noontime contest “Tawag ng Tanghalan.”

The incident occurred on Cabantian Road in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to a report by ABS-CBN News.

Mariscal, who gained recognition on the singing contest, was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by Ruben Borgonia.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accident happened at around 2:45 a.m., Borgonia and Mariscal made a brief restroom stop near Barangay Indangan. As Mariscal alighted from the motorcycle, he lost his balance and fell onto the road.

In an attempt to seek help, Borgonia tried to flag down a passing white vehicle. However, the vehicle ignored him and ran over Mariscal, leaving him severely injured.

Mariscal was immediately rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) for emergency medical treatment, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The Davao City Police Office is actively pursuing the case, aiming to identify the hit-and-run driver and the vehicle involved. They are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
