MANILA (October 25) – To ensure safe and comfortable travel for Filipinos during Undas 2025, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), under the direction of DOTr Acting Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez has approved special permits for 847 additional passenger buses.

LTFRB Chair Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said the permits cover 124 routes across Metro Manila and Luzon, mostly serving major terminals and transport hubs in the National Capital Region.

“These additional buses will accommodate more passengers traveling to their provinces to honor their departed loved ones. We will continue monitoring the situation as the Undas exodus begins,” Mendoza said.

Of the approved units, 491 will serve Northern Luzon, 189 for Southern Luzon (Calabarzon and Mimaropa), 67 for the Bicol Region, 18 for Eastern Visayas, 21 for Western Visayas, and five bound for Mindanao. Another 56 units were approved for routes in Luzon outside Metro Manila.

Mendoza reminded bus operators to ensure the roadworthiness of their vehicles and the readiness of drivers and conductors, with regular and surprise inspections to be conducted.

The Undas travel surge is expected to begin this weekend, with some schools declaring a wellness break starting October 27.

The LTFRB also reported that 22 bus units from two companies were recently penalized for operating illegal terminals, as part of its continued coordination with other government agencies to ensure the safety and comfort of all travelers.
