Maguindanao del Sur — The Mayor of Datu Salibo in Maguindanao was arrested last night under “Oplan Pagtugis” (Operation Manhunt) in connection with a murder case.
The mayor, identified as Silaiman Sandigan, was apprehended by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). He stands accused of the murder of Datu Salibo Municipal Councilor Demon Silongan, who was killed in April.
During the operation, the mayor did not resist and cooperated with the authorities. His arrest was made in accordance with a Warrant of Arrest issued by the presiding Judge of the 12th Judicial Region RTC Branch 15 in Cotabato City. The court has not recommended bail.
The case against the mayor originated from a complaint filed by the victim’s spouse. He is currently in the custody of the CIDG regional office in the Bangsamoro Region.
The operation was carried out by a joint force composed of the CIDG, the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, the Regional Mobile Force, the Regional Investigation Division, the 61st Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, and the PNP Datu Piang in Maguindanao del Sur.
