MANILA (November 3) – A Malaysian recruitment firm has become the first to raise the monthly pay of Filipino domestic workers to $500, following the Philippine government’s new wage policy.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said Agensi Pekerjaan CCS Sdn Bhd fully complied with Memorandum Circular No. 03, which increased the minimum salary for household service workers from $400 to $500.

Jocelyn Ortega, head of the Migrant Workers Office in Kuala Lumpur, lauded the firm’s swift compliance, saying it “sets the bar for protecting and empowering Filipino workers in the region.”

The DMW said the wage hike is part of ongoing reforms to improve labor standards and welfare for overseas Filipino workers. Employers have six months to adjust before a compliance audit begins.
