Man beheads gandma over garbage argument

DAVAO CITY — A 66-year-old grandmother was beheaded by her neighbor over garbage argument in Purok 1 Brgy Canayugan, Bayugan City, on Tuesday at around 11:00 in the morning, January 2.

Police report showed that the victim, identified as Rosalina Abing Asilo, married and a store owner had a heated altercation with the suspect identified as Mario Fortun.

The suspect told police investigators that, on January 2. At 7:00 in the morning, he passed by the victim’s house and asked her to throw her garbage properly as there were broken glasses scattered along the road which might hurt the children in the community.

According to the suspect, instead of getting along, the victim shouted at him and even accused him of being a thief.

The word “Thief” angered Fortun, he told the police he was hurt, because he maliciously defamed which will affect his childern’s reputation.

His anger prompted Fortun to get drunk, afterwhich, he told his companion to be ready because he will go on leave for 15-years. No one suspect that he will commit a crime.

Under the Philippine laws Homicide and Murder, Under the Revised Penal Code, has the penalty imposed of  reclusion perpetua (20 years and 1 day to 40 years, but still indivisible penalty) while for homicide, the penalty is reclusion temporal with a duration of 12 years and 1 day to 20 years.

Fortun even forwarned his companions to watch the next event to unfold, unknown to tghem the police said, the suspect went to the victim’s house and using a sharp bolo, he beheaded the victim and even showed her head to his neighbors.

According to the suspect, he did not regret what he did because he did not want to embarrass his children.

However, he apologized to the victim’s family and his relatives who are also his neighbors.
