Marawi crisis affect more than 100,000 people

DAVAO CITY, Philippines—The Marawi Crisis has affected 20,049 families or 100,530 individuals.

Of the total number of residents affected, 10. 970 are considered Internally Displaced Persons but the number is increasing as efforts to rescue trapped residents are ongoing.

Based on the 6:00am June 2, update from the Department of Social Services and Development (DSWD) “The IDPs have increased to 10,970 families or 52,797 persons of which 1,223 families or 5,259 persons are inside evacuation centers while 9,747 families or 47,538 persons are home-based IDPs.”

The Marawi crisis affected 20,049 families or 100,530 persons.

The sporadic firefights has turned villages into a ghost town as residents free for safety in the nearby municipality either to the evacuation centers or to their next of kin.

Social welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo posted in her facebook account “The city of Iligan housed a total of 702 families or 3,148 individuals in four evacuation centers, while 170 families or 688 persons are in the Baloi Gymnasium, Baloi Lanao del Norte, others are in the municipality of Pantar with 351 families or 1,423 persons. ”

As of yesterday, the field office has already sent out Family Food Packs to the municipalities of Baloi, Pantar, Pantao Ragat, Matungao. While relief operation in the city of Iligan is being conducted to evacuation centers and to home-based IDPs every after validation.

A total cost of assistance amounting to Php 10,134,722.20, of which Php 2,560,960.00 worth of Non-food items and family food packs worth Php 7,573,762.20./newsline.ph
