Mayor, VM arrested for hot guns

DAVAO CITY (APRIL 5) — The mayor and vice mayor of San Francisco, Camotes in Cebu province were arrested Thursday morning after firearms with expired licenses and an explosive were found in their residences.

By virtue of the search warrant issued by Cebu RTC Judge Leopoldo Canete, agents of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CCPO) searched the houses of San Francisco Mayor Aly Arquillano and Vice Mayor Alfredo Arquillano Jr. The two are brothers.

Mayor Arquillano is one of the three local executives charged by the Department of Interior and Local Government before the Office of the Ombudsman for their failure to activate their local anti-drug council.

Seized from the Arquillanos were pistols, an automatic rifle, fragmented grenade and several ammunition.

The two were brought to Cebu City Thursday afternoon for proper disposition and the filing of cases.

The Arquillanos are detained at the CPPO detention facility.-NewsLIne.ph
