KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines — The son Pigcawayan town Mayor Herminio Roquero and his three companions were arrested in a joint anti-narcotics operation by Police Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (PRDEU-12) and local police Wednesday afternoon June 7.
Chief Inspector Reylan Mamon, Pigcawayan town police chief, identified the suspects as Jade Roquero, Julio Canja, Florenjo Segundera and Rommel Villanueva, all residents of Pigcawayan.
Supt. Maximo Sebastian, regional drug enforcement unit chief, said Roquero, 48, is the son of Pigcawayan town Mayor Herminio Roquero while Canja was the brother of Barangay Manuangan chairperson Jesus Canja.
Armed with search warrants issued by Judge Alexander Betoya of RTC Branch 16 against Canja, the government operatives raided his house in Barangay North Manuangan at 1 p.m.
Sebastian said the four were found to be holding shabu pot session. Armed with cal. 45 pistol, Roquero tried to escape but backed off when he saw his house being surrounded by police.
The police also recovered shabu and assorted firearms from Canja’s home.
The suspects are now detained at Pigcawayan PNP.
