DAVAO CITY – Meta has suspended three pages affiliated with Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) for violating its community standards.
As of now, Meta has not publicly disclosed the specific violations that led to the suspension. However, SMNI has been under scrutiny for alleged disinformation, hate speech, and coordinated inauthentic behavior, among the common reasons for page takedowns on Facebook.
SMNI, a media network owned by Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, has yet to release an official statement regarding the suspension. The network has previously faced multiple allegations of spreading misleading narratives and partisan propaganda, drawing criticism from fact-checkers and digital rights advocates.
Meta’s move is part of its broader effort to combat misinformation and enforce platform rules against content that violates its policies. The company has been actively monitoring news organizations, political entities, and influencers that engage in harmful or deceptive activities on its platforms.
The suspension of SMNI’s pages comes amid ongoing legal troubles for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who is facing multiple cases, including human trafficking and financial crimes in the United States. SMNI has consistently defended Quiboloy and accused critics of political persecution.
Observers note that Meta’s action may intensify tensions between the platform and SMNI’s supporters, some of whom have accused social media companies of censorship.
It remains unclear whether SMNI will appeal the decision or create new Facebook pages to re-establish its presence.
