KIDAPAWAN CITY — A twelve-year-old girl who was picking ferns for a living was raped, killed, and abandoned on a cliff in the village of Sumbac this City on Tuesday night.

The Uncle of the 12-year-old victim earlier reported to the Barangay Leaders and barangay Police that the girl was missing “So they went to search the area and met the suspect who was living near the crime scene,” said City Police Chief Lt. Col. Cominador Palgan said.

Michael Sagusay, the Barangay Chairman said the Barangay Police Auxiliary bumped into a drunk man who lived in a shanty in a secluded area and asked him if he noticed the girl he reportedly answered “Just look for her, she is just around.”

Palgan said the victim admitted committing the crime saying he blacked out because he was drunk.

Personnel from Kidapawan Police and the barangay police found the lifeless girl past 10:00 in the evening on May 13, on a cliff just near the place of the victim.

When they asked the suspect if he did kill the girl, “He admitted and he tried to escape but was later captured” Sagusay revealed.

The police were about to leave the village with the suspect but while inside the police car “The suspect reportedly tried to grab the revolver of the police officer which prompted the law enforcers to neutralize him”, Palgan narrated.

The suspect was later identified as Eric Lim a transient in said village,

With the death of the suspect, Palgan declared the case solved.
