DAVAO CITY (April 23) – Island Garden City of Samal police on Monday filed charges against two motorcycle riders engaged in a fistfight at the Mae Wess Barge Port in the Island Garden City of Samal on Good Friday.

The two were detained at the police station and waited for the charges to be filed so they could pay the penalty as imposed under Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code. The law stipulates a penalty of up to ₱200.

According to Samal City Police Chief Lt. Col. Hamlet Lerios, who told Newsline Philippines, even if the two individuals have reconciled, the law must be applied since they disturbed the general public.

Lerios said the conflict started when both motorists argued over who arrived first at the wharf to form the queue.

The two, who are both residents of Davao City, were released after paying the court charges.
