DAVAO CITY —The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday arrested a subcontractor of Task Force Bangon Marawi for allegedly running away the collections at the expense of the real contractor.
The NBI arrested Ulysses Basa, by virtue of the warrant of arrest issued by the court.
The complaint, Lorna Alocotan, the owner of L&E Construction, in an interview with ABS-CBN revealed she completed projects such as road, waiting shed, and drainage projects in the province for 6 months but Basa did not pay her.
The teary-eyed contractor said she lost P37 million due to the cost of the projects, including the money and luxury car that Basa allegedly demanded from her as a bribe to get the Bangon Marawi projects.
in the same interview, Alocotan revealed “Para daw sa project manager at yong iba pang hindi ko naman kilala, na hinihingan ng plano. Bago makapasok kailangan daw magbigay na pera P6 million at Fortuner kasi kung hindi ka magbibigay hindi sa akin ibibigay ang mga plano (allegedly for the project manager and those whom I don’t know, who will provide the plan, before we can enter, we need to pay P6-million and a Fortuner because if we cannot give, the plan will not be given to me).”
According Atty. Yuri Beltran, the agent on the case of the NBI, Basa used a false address in their agreement. He suspects even claimed he is connected to MBC Corporation which turned be a building in Ayala.
Beltran said, they will call other contractors to shed light on the issue.
During the interview, Basa refused to answer the accusation but the NBI said, he denied his involvement before them.-Editha Z. Caduaya
