ISABELA CITY, Philippines — A barangay captain who just took his oath as Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban (PDP-Laban) member was shot dead Thursday night January 18, 2018 in barangay Lumbang this city.
Lamitan City police chief Supt. Restituto Pangusban identified the victim as Kadam Ismael, barangay captain of Kapayawan.
Pangusband said Ismael and his son were on their way home but upon reaching barangay Lumbang the still unidentified gunmen onboard a motorbike shot him..
Pangusban suspects Ismael’s death could be politically motivated or have been caused by a personal grudge.
Ismael was among the Isabela barangay captains who met President Rodrigo Duterte at the Palace Wednesday night.
