NIA official gunned down in Maguindanao town

KABACAN NORTH COTABATO (January 24) — An unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen shot dead a civil engineer working with the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) based in Midsayap, North Cotabato, late Tuesday afternoon January 22.

Police Chief Inspector Erwin Gutierrez Tabora, identified the victim as Engr. Joseph Adam, a resident of Barangay Salapungan, Kabacan, North Cotabato.

Police investigation showed, Adam was on his way home  driving his Honda Sedan colored metallic gray with plate number LGD 717, but upon reaching Barangay Pagagawan, Datu Montawal, Maguindanao Tuesday at about 5:30 p.m while the unidentified gunmen surfaced and shot him hitting his neck.

Adam was working with the NIA, he used to be the  municipal engineer of Datu Montawal town.

Responding policemen recovered one fired shell and one fired slug of a .45 caliber pistol from the crime scene.

The victim was rushed to the Deseret Surgimed Hospital in the neighboring Kabacan town where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The police authorities are still conducting investigation on the incident to determine the motive as well as the identity of the perpetrator.  – Taher Solaiman
