DAVAO CITY (October 11) —  No cast, no doubt.  The officers of the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have agreed- to ask the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)  to investigate the October 5 ambush in Lanao del Sur which killed five PDEA agents.

PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino in an interview with NewsLine said: “We agreed to ask the NBI to investigate the case because  it involves our personnel.”

Chief Superintendent Graciano Mijares, regional director of Police Regional Office-ARMM told Newsline “We agreed to allow the NBI to investigate para walang masabi ang both sides.”

Aquino emphasized it would be good for both parties to have a third party to handle the case to avoid complications.   He, however, maintained that there were questionable actions from the Tagaloan II Municipal Police Station, who served as escort of the PDEA team.

“Bakit sila nakalabas sa killing zone, meron bang ibig sabihin nun? (Why were they able to get out of the killing zone, does that mean something ?),” he asked.

The initial report shows that prior to the ambush, the police team was behind the PDEA vehicle when it suddenly overtook the anti-drug agents.

“Parang, kaduda duda yung kanilang galaw nung time na yun (There moves were really suspicious during that time),” he said. “I really don’t know what happened to them. Hindi sila nagreinforce. They didn’t fire up,” Aquino added.
