No firecracker will pass Davao City

November 30, 2017 by Armando B. Fenequito Jr. Leave a Comment

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — No firecracker and pyrotechnic devices will pass Davao City, this is the police of the police regional command here.

Chief Superintendent Cydric Earl Tamayo during the weekly  AFP-PNP Press Corps briefing at the Royal Mandaya Hotel Wednesday said the Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU), the office in-charge in the issuance  permits, will not issue permit to transport firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices  which will pass Davao City.

Citing the Firecracker Ordinance of  Davao COty, Tamayo said “The provision of the Ordinance banning firecracker and pyrotechnic devices will be strictly imposed.

This means, enterprising traders from other cities and provinces who are into firecracker and pyrotechnic business  will just have to re-route their usual route “If they are transporting firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices, because the law in Davao does not allow them to enter their goods as it is considered prohibit here.”

If they are from General Santos or Cotabato City and going to the cities of Cagayan de Oro, Tagum, Mati, traders just have to use alternate route which would mean longer travel time and additional oil expense.

Tamayo suggests the traders may use sea crafts in Panabo City to transport their firecrackers to other areas, “As long as they will not pass Davao City,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tamayo also warned the people not to use firecrackers and pyrotechnics on designated areas as set by the Executive Order No. 28 released by President Rodrigo R. Duterte last month.

In said EO, local government units must designated a firework display area and all firework display and pyrotechnic devices must be used there but those violating the desigated area will be apprehended.

The EO provides that violators will be penalized of up to P30,000 fine and up to six months imprisonment

He said provincial government down to barangay will be the one to identify the places where the people can use their firecrackers and pyrotechnics.

“The local government units will be the one to identify the area that will be used as community fireworks display areas,” he said.

Tamayo said the local governments will be also the one identify the designated areas for selling firecrackers and pyrotechnics.

The order entitled “Providing for the Regulation and Control of the use firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices” aims to lessen the firecracker related injuries during the yuletide season.-Armando B. Fenerquito/Newsline.ph
