BARIRA, Maguindanao del Norte (May 7)  — A notorious member of an organized crime group was killed during a joint law enforcement operation in Sitio Dulayap, Barangay Panggao, Barira, on Monday.

Authorities identified the slain suspect as 34-year-old Kamlon Manardas Ragundo, a resident of the area.

According to police reports, the operation was meant to serve an arrest warrant against Porok Marandakan Ragundo, alias “Rokkie,” and seven others facing multiple criminal charges. Police were accompanied by military personnel.

However, as authorities approached the suspects’ residence, they came under fire, prompting them to retaliate.

During the exchange of gunfire, the suspects attempted to flee and even threw a grenade. One suspect, Kamlon Ragundo, was left dead at the scene.

Recovered from the area were two M16A1 rifles, magazines, two grenades, and several rounds of ammunition.

Authorities said the group has long been involved in criminal activities including gun-for-hire operations, violent robberies, and illegal drug trade — causing fear in parts of Maguindanao del Norte and Cotabato City.
