NPA terrorists abandon pregnant comrade during a clash in Bukidnon

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Members of the New People’s Army (NPA) abandoned their wounded and pregnant comrade in an encounter which happened near the village of Ulayanon, Barangay Kalabugao, Impasugong, Bukidnon on April 14, 2018.

Guaynon, 22-years-old, is five months pregnant. She was abandoned by her comrades after she sustained  a wound on her forehead. The rebels  encountered the soldiers from 8th Infantry Battalion (8IB), in a forested area in Bukidnon.  The firefight lasted for 20 minutes.

The military reported that, 40 members of Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army Terrorists (CNTs) from Headquarters Force NEO Compaq of North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).

Despite the ideological difference, the government troops rescued Guaynon and applied emergency procedures, later brought her to the nearby hospital.

The military informed her family that Guaynon is in a stable condition after she was rushed to the  nearest hospital for proper medical treatment.

Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Illana, Commanding Officer of 8th Infantry Battalion said, in rescuing and helping Guaynon, the government showed respect to Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.”

Brigadier General Eric Vinoya, Commander of the 403rd Infantry Brigade said : “It is shameful that NPA terrorists and leaders keep on recruiting members with sweet and promising words, yet they fail to look into the welfare of their own members – leaving a wounded and pregnant woman in the mountains after the clash with 8IB troops. They should be the one looking after her especially that she is pregnant and she needs monthly check-up.”

Recovered items from the encounter are: 2 – AK47 rifles; 1 – AR18 rifle; 1 – cal. 30 M1 Carbine rifle; 1 – M4 rifle; 1 – air gun; and 30 backpacks filled with subversive documents and personal belongings.

Headquarters Force NEO Compaq is the security in-charge of the Executive Committee of the NCMRC. Said group was responsible for the killing of Mayor Mario Okinlay last July 2, 2014 in Brgy Bontongon, Impasugong, Bukidnon and the merciless murder of three unarmed 8IB soldiers last February 1, 2017 in Sitio Kaleb, Brgy Kibalabag, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, the reason President Rodrigo Duterte terminated the government’s unilateral ceasefire declaration.-EZC/Newsline.Ph
