Oaminal provides financial assistance to kids living in GIDA

DAVAO CITY — The provincial government of Misamis Occidental provided financial assistance and other support for the learners from Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) during the recent launching of Healthy Learning Institutions (HLI) program at the capitol.

Governor Henry S. Oaminal said the HLI program is aimed art enhancing health and nutrition in GIDA communities which were previously living in hostile environment due to the local armed conflict.

Gala Elementary School, Jasmin Gumipay and Marjun Gumilas, who were among the beneficiaries of the program thank the government as the cash assistance will not only help them but also their families, as they plan to use the money for food and other basic needs of their families.

In his message Oaminal said the children from GIDA area needs support “Your provincial government is here to support you in your journey to realize your goal, we walk together for a peaceful community for the development of our province.”

Oaminal said the provincial government will province P20-million worth of infrastructure project to GIDA communities like what was provided to the residents of Calamba town and the 100-million-peso Gandawan to Mansawan Don Victoriano road development which was undertaken by Office Second District Representative Sancho Fernando “Ando” Oaminal. 

These projects have significantly improved connectivity and access in historically underserved barangays, addressing longstanding challenges and fostering progress, the Governor emphasized.

Infrastructure development greatly contribute to economic development of the province as movement of goods will be faster and cost of transport cheaper.

With a peaceful community, Oaminal said “The students learning environment will greatly improve which will contribute to their study behavior.”
