DAVAO CITY –— A returning overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Banga, South Cotabato who was tested positive of coronavirus-19 sneaked out of her isolation facility and wed his partner.

In a report published by Radyo Bida Koronadal, it stated that the 31-year-old returning OFW arrived in her town on July 8, and opted to be home-quarantined but she did not finish the mandatory 14-day quarantine period. Worse she pushed for her wedding.

Because of this, Banga town mayor Albert Palencia said, “ang OFW na COVID-19 positive hindi tinapos ang 14-day quarantine period, nagpakasal pa sa Banga, South Cotabato. Nagsasagawa na ng contact Tracing ang LGU sa mga dumalo sa kasal at sa mga nakasalamuha ng OFW matapos itong umuwi sa Barangay Lamba, ng nasabing bayan”.

(The OFW who is Covid-19 positive did not finish the 14-day quarantine period, we wed in Banga, South Cotabato, the local government is now conducting a contact tracing to all those who attended the wedding and those whom she met after she went home in Sitio Awal, Barangay Lamba.)

Palencia said the whole village of Awal is now placed under lockdown while the contact tracing is being done, to prevent the spread of infection.

As of Wednesday, July 15, 28 the health personnel has traced persons who were associated with the OFW.

The OFW and her husband along with their child have been placed in isolation.

The local government will extend support to the families of the affected residents.

This developed as South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. prepares charges against the violator to give lessons to those who violated the quarantine protocol.

Tamayo said if someone will be tested positive due to the exposure, the provincial government might implement a province-wide lockdown anytime.

The governor also ordered all local government units to intensify their monitoring to all returning residents especially those who are locally stranded and returning overseas FIlipinos.- Newsline with a report from Radyo Bida Koronadal
