ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE— A one-year and four months old baby drowned afternoon of May 2, while the mother was busy doing household chores in sub-village 10 of Barangay Poblacion East, Salug town Zamboanga del Norte.

According to Police Major Arlan Delumpines, OIC chief of Salug Municipal Police Station, the mother stated that she left their house around 4:00 p.m. to wash their clothes while the baby was sleeping alone, and thus she failed to notice that the baby was already awake.

Delumpines revealed how the mother was shocked upon learning from a neighbor who informed her that her baby was found floating at the shorelines on sub-village 8, Barangay Poblacion East.

In their barangay, the family lives along a nearby stretch of the long shoreline.
